Lauren Galley: Meet The Girl Behind 'Girls Above Society'
By Julia Schemmer for Eduzine Global
Lauren Marie Galley is not your average twenty year old. A student at Sam Houston State University where she not only participates in the Honors program but is the chair of leadership at her sorority, Lauren knows what it is like to live her passions daily. Among her multiple accolades, she’s a professional model, an Amazon bestselling author, the official ambassador of Secret’s Mean Stinks campaign, and the founder of her organization, Girls Above Society.
Girls Above Society is an organization that Lauren founded to reinforce the power of the sisterhood and using our words for good. “I initially became interested in encouraging teen girls to spread love to each other because as I was growing up, I experienced a lack of this,” explains Lauren, “…I vowed to make a difference in not only recognizing and being aware of the pitfalls in society, but also standing apart from the crowd to improve the generation.”
The organization began when Lauren was only fifteen years old, and since its development, has grown immensely. Alongside Lauren traveling the United States to speak to different groups about the message behind Girls Above Society, Lauren exhorts endless hours in promoting a girl-positive magazine and radio show, writing books about positive relationships, and contributing for national sites such as the Huffington Post. “Throughout my journey I have learned the vast importance of positive mentors, courage, and the value of reaching my goals and dreams,” affirms Lauren.
Lauren is on a mission to change the world, whether this is accomplished through her drawing awareness to social media addictions, promoting positive body images, or being her normal, bubbly self. Follow her journey to change the world by visiting her website at www.girlsabovesociety.org.
