What’s This All About?
Blog date 28 November 2013
This is the first in a series of blogs about my great Cambodian adventure during January 2014.
Why?
At Tayabali Tomlin, we believe that business should have the power to change everyone’s lives. For us, helping our clients succeed – and succeeding ourselves – brings with it a social responsibility, a duty towards those who may be less fortunate. That’s why we sponsor and support a number of UK-based charitable and social organisations. And, through our partnership with the ground breaking business giving organisation Buy1GIVE1, we’ve linked our services with charitable projects right around the world. A journey of giving, learning, sharing and inspiration
On 4 January I’m off to Siem Reap, Cambodia to join the B1G1 2014 Study Tour.
Through B1G1, many people have chosen to contribute to projects, that specifically address educational issues such as; the provision of primary schooling, vocational training and scholarships for those who don’t have the chance to go to school or learn. And now, I’ll have the opportunity to learn what’s happening with these life-changing projects – up close and personal! I am joining up with other B1G1 members and their families from different parts of the world together with the B1G1 team; including Masami Sato, founder and Paul Dunn, chairman.
Together we will be working with some of the projects whilst learning about the deep-rooted issues in Cambodia – why many children are still trafficked and made to work at a young age. And of course, we will be learning (and tacking action on) what we can do to help provide better opportunities and empowered futures.
The study tour will include; helping build a special playground for a school that is providing elementary education to more than 400 children, conducting knowledge workshops for business scholarship students and visits to a prison vocation training center for young offenders, a cookery school and of course a trip to the largest religious structure and world famous Angkor Wat, amongst others.
I am so excited to be taking part in the tour and really grateful for the opportunity. Thanks to B1G1 and of course the team at Tayabali Tomlin who will be covering my workload in January!! I can’t wait for the new year!
