Self Taught Opera Sensation Is Just 9 Years Old

The world is becoming more aware of the incredible artistic talent of performance artists within our planet, owing to the increasing popularity of TV talent shows across the globe. The format of many shows may leave a lot to be desired, especially the way some young people are negatively portrayed. However, the major positive outcome has been the emergence of some quite outstanding young talent.

One such sensation is Amira Willighagen, a girl from Holland, who has taken the world by storm after her appearances on Holland's Got Talent. HLNBE reports that when 9-year-old Amira Willighagen from Nijmegen stepped onto the 'Holland's Got Talent' stage, no one was expecting such a big voice to come out of such a very little girl. Her incredible rendition of Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" from the opera "Gianni Schicchi" earned her a Golden Ticket from the judges that would take her straight to the live show. It's hard to believe how young Amira is, but even more surprising to learn that she is completely self-taught, and used only YouTube tutorials to learn how to sing. She told the judges, "My brother Vincent plays violin, and I also wanted to do something... So I thought, I'm going to sing!"

And sing she most certainly did! Many viewers initially found it difficult to believe the voice was coming from someone so young and indeed there were unfair comments posted at various online sites about the authenticity. However, our own sources confirm that Amira is the real deal and her talent is as sincere and genuine as it is impressive. There can be absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Amira has a huge future in front of her, but it is also important that those around her ensure that she is kept grounded, especially during the initial hysteria about her unrivalled ability. This young girl still needs to grow into her voice and have the opportunity to interact with other children in normal day to day play and activities and to be shielded from much of the press intrusion that will undoubtedly be bestowed upon her.

In the heats the Dutch youngster won over the show's judges, Gordon Heuckeroth, Dan Karaty and Chantal Janzen, with a dazzling performance which took her into the show finals. Earning a standing ovation from the audience and winning the hearts of the nation, little Amira beamed from ear-to-ear as she was awarded a coveted golden ticket, earning a place in the competition's live finals, which she went on to win with a further amazing performance. Amira will now appear on the famous Las Vegas Strip as part of her prize.
